Fitz and Floyd Vegetable Garden Pitcher
Estate sales are such bitter sweet affairs. Each item is a time marker of an event in someones life. I wish we could purchase the memories as well.
American potteries flourished for at time when entertaining was a social standard practice and ladies prepared beautiful tables much like the decorators I see in todays blogs. Vibrant pottery that looked good serving its function. Floral and garden themes were very comman and fit well into any house.
This pattern was called vegetable garden and produced by Fitz and Floyd potteries. It was kept in a showcase and never used. I am sure it was a special gift from and to someone special. I see this pitcher full of fresh lemonade with a big plate of made from scratch sugar cookies. Even though it isn't "new" it would make a lovely shower or house warming gift.
The pitcher is bright and has no cracks, chips or crazing. It will hold 1 1/4 quarts of liquid. It stands 9 inches tall and is 10 inches from handle to spout and 6 inches wide. The bottom is marked with the trademark and year of production.
