Depression Glass Fluted Serving Bowl

This simple 50's era piece of depression glass has graceful fluted scallops around its edge. The time period produced a wonderful collection of artisan made potteries producing serving pieces that were proudly used on dinner tables throughout America.
 
I believe this piece to be a dip bowl for a larger chip bowl. It would have sat on a metal perch on the side of the larger bowl. It has a heavy bottom and sits flat and stable.
 
The depression era serving bowl is 5 inches in diameter and 2 3/4 inches deep. The edge features graceful scallops that give pouring edge to the bowl if needed.
