Antique Gathering Basket
Handmade things last much longer than their maker. This antique basket was made to drain. Quite possibly a gathering basket for the garden.
I believe the the well is copper. The oxidation is a beautiful verde green. The iron band and handles are aged rust. Not brittle! The fingerprints of the process are clearly visible.
The basket is 15 1/2 inches long and 7 inches wide and deep. It has good sized holes in the bottom for drainage. The basket was found on a farm established pre-1920. Beautiful decorator piece of history.
