Antique Black Velvet Sack Purse with Ribbon Embroidery Work

Pretty Wristlet Sack Purse with Art Noveau Hardware
 
I have a bit of turn of the century fashion to offer up. This small wristlet purse would have been used as a dance purse or special occasion purse. Made to hang from the wrist always close to the hand. 
 
The silver topper has an art nouveau look with detailed embossing and a kiss clasp on the top. There ia a chain handle that add about 3 1/2 inches to the bag. The overall size is about 8 inches. The velvet bag is accented with floral ribbon embroidery work. The bottom of the bag is fringed with eyecatching beadwork that is the color of carnival glass. 
 
For its age it is good condition. No holes or tears and the closure is tight. Someone would be wise to secure the fabric to the handle if its going to be used. It is secure but the glue is probably on the dry side.
 
These were very popular  in the 20's, 30's and 40's.
