Set of 3 Colonial Courting Figurines from Occupied Japan
Post War Colonial Courting Figurines From Occupied Japan
In the post war years one of the ways used to get struggling economies rolling again was the production of small decorative art pieces. During the years immediately following during reconstruction of Japan they were required to be marked "Occupied Japan" After a few years exports only had to be marked Made in Japan. This collection from the period has both.
Bought and sent home as a gift for a mother, this little collection has been together in a glass front cabinet protected from time and light. Not because of value but because they were a treasured gift from a mother who's son was serving his country. For 70 years they were special.
The colors are bright and the pieces are clean. Hall marks are clear. No chips or damage. Wonderful decorator pieces for a touch of vintage.
